Can you paint Galv'ed steel

Is this a stupid question? I have no idea.

Ive got galvanised Tree sliders on my 110 and I want to colour code them to the bodywork, or paint them black.

If I can get paint to key to galv at all, anyone know if I need a special primer?

yes yu can paint it - and yes you need special primer. suggest yu google it.

Googling just brings up a load of old bollocks as usual. Knew i'd get a quicker answer on her, thanks!

Edit: Looks like Hammerite make some, so actually it was me talking bollocks- not google.

Galv is not normally a problem providing that it is well weatherd. 12 months +.

Alot of the websites are saying that, the older it is the better. Mine have been well weathered for sure as they are covered in crap most of the time!

Im going to try and get hold of some primer first and see how that goes.

new stuf is an ARSE to paint, but tarnished and well wethered hasnt been a problem.
