I have a 2005 90TD5 CSW and on the turbo unit there is a threaded rod for the wastegate actuator. Mine seems to have been tampered with as the paint seal is broken...I need somebody with a newish TD5 to carefully count the threads showing on the rod and tell me how many there are. This will give me an idea of whether mine is right. Mine has 15 showing (between the end of the threads on the rod and the bolt). It looks like there are 2 or 3 extra exposed, this would I think give more boost, but the ECU is detecting this and cutting the power.
On my Renault 5 Turbo a popular mod was to adjust this threaded rod, a couple of turns would give 30 bhp....I don't think it's such a good way of "tuning" a TD5 though.

Someone has 'tuned' it for slightly better boost pressue, and gone to far, as I think what your saying is the TD5 is almost throwing itself into limp home mode. Simply twist it back one turn, and see if you can get your full power, I wouldn't turn it back to the original setting, you might cry.

Friends TD5 is turned up a bit, and he has a boost pressue guage mounted on the dash to keep an eye on things; so you can get away with I think its a turn and a 1/4 (well on this one anyway).

Yes I will try that, I will turn it back until the engine stops going into reduced power mode.
The thing is, it's worse than standard because in limp home mode not only is power reduced but you have to push the accelerator almost to the floor to make it go...
