I have a good 200TDI with a knackered crank (chewed up at the end where the pulley bolts on), can i remove the crank from another 200TDI and fit this instead?

Yes.

Well worth changing all the bearing shells, seals and stuff too .. ;)

Also worth finding out what chewed up the pulley end in case it happens again ...

I think a bit of research you will find 200 crank is the same as earlier engine's.
But not dear at all even new.
When refitting crank pulley grease the nose of the crank and loctite the bolt.

Don't assume that your 'replacement' has standard size journals, a previous owner may have had it reground, old shells may say if they were oversize but best to measure it up before ordering the bearing shells.

Pistons come in oversizes. Ground cranks and crank shells are undersized. :D:D

If I were being pedantic - who me? the shells are oversize (compared to standard thickness) to compensate for the undersize crank journals! ;);) but I get what you mean.

So when they are put together the hole in them is undersized. Yeah know what you mean just me being bored. :D:D

kind of robbing the thread but worth asking , are 200tdi and 300 tdi cranks the same? what about pistons and rods? if they are ill keep my 300tdi block rather than scrap it
