Are disc braked rear axles that much better that drums?

I cant see that the rear brakes are doing that much work so why are discs better than drums

My old 90 stops as good as any Disco cause I got early 110 calipers on the front so do I need to use a spare disco back axle that I have.

I will be selling the 90 when its done so maybe discs are a good selling point:)

I can't see why discs wouldn't be an improvement over drums so why not stick it on? It's not a hard job and most people do it anyway. Tis a good selling point too I guess

As with yourself I run my 90 with the original rear drums and 110 calipers on the front and find it a good set up.Yes as matchmetisse say's if you have been in the gungy stuff a clean out may be needed but when repairs are wanted a new slave cylinder is a lot cheaper than a caliper.
