Hi all,
I have a dear old Discovery 1 with 380.000 km on the clock. Around 4500 km ago I had a lot of stuff done to the engine (new original turbo, new water pump, new alternator, lots of tubes, connectors, rings etc. replaced AND a full replacement of timing belt, tensioners etc).
One night on the way home it sounded strange on the way down a little hill and had no power so I stopped and had it towed. Now the mechanic has sent a budget for rebuilding the injector pump and he also mentioned that the engine had somehow "lost a tick or two on the timing" - and wants to completely replace the timing belts, tensioners etc. again. I am not a mechanic so don't really know what to say to him, but the cost is massive.....
Is this normal/possible that a failed injector pump causes the whole shabang to be replaced again?
Thanks a lot for any help and input - and greetings to all from Portugal!
/Morten
