hello , im a newbe from devon and would like some advice .i have a 1998 s reg freelander and the cam belt has sheared of .it happened when i was coasting in neatral (about 20mph ) when i put it into gear . im hoping that there is not much damage . i have replaced the cam belt and re timed it as per haynes manuel. it does not start :(so i presume i have a bent valve or 2 or something eles wrong.
i realise now that i have to take the head of and found the head bolts are star drive shaped and i dont have any sockets like it to fit. what size socket will i need and do you have any advice or pointers .i have seen some on ebay but are not sure on the size.
it is to good to scrap as its got no rust and its in very good conditon for a s reg so im looking to repair it .
many thanks :):)

classic case of down shifting torqing the belt, Valves more than likely munched. Slim chance that they survived. There should be unseated vales and witness marks on the pistons.

You sure the timing isn't 180 degrees out, crank it over by hand and judge by the resistance, compression test wouldn't go a miss.

Heads are torx. E 12 maybe??? Get a set of them
