Classic Cable jumped off camshaft

Hi guys recently I ended up with a RRC 3.9 efi auto that didn't want to shift up. Opened up the transmission today and yes, the kickdown cable jumped off the cam. Refitted no problem. Next question is setting the cable. Read about 39 mm etc. Is the 39 mm from the base for the outer casing extending? Right? Then the 1.5 mm gap. Is that when the throttle is fully opened??

You'll recall the initial issue with a transmission pipe to the cooler that sprung a leak. The box lost its fluid and the car got stuck. I then got it going again and had to really rev her hard to enable gear shift - so in that process I assume that I have messed the cable up and it managed to jump off the cam. All in all the gearbox and pipes needed some tender love and care - this is just to share my experience with all the RRC guys out there - so I am back in love with her, wasn't her fault!

The Ashcroft site doesn't go into much detail about initial set-up.
If you've removed it without marking its position I'm presuming you also want details of repositioning the control unit?
There are factory manuals online but the only ones I can find just get blotted out with ads before you can really see what you need to know. If you know how to remove the ads and other rubbish you'll have all you need.

Good evening all. Happy to share with you that my 3.9 efi '91 RRC is changing gears at between 2500 and 3000 revolutions all running smoothly again. Cable and setting sorted without too much of a problem, yet way off the magic 39 mm quoted. After 30 years the cable must have stretched a bit?
