Hi. I just bought an 05 TD4 with 51250k miles on the clock. What concerns me is when I let the clutch up in lower gears or when I suddenly apply the accelerator, there is a bump and a feeling of movement toward the back of the car. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a big piece of luggage setting back under its own inertia - except there isn't anything loose back there that I'm aware of. You also don't feel it through the clutch pedal, which I'd expect if it was transmission related (I'm not very mechanical). Should I be worried?

Hi English. I did a lot of searching prior to joining and, although there were a lot of tranny related faults, that specific symptom didn't come up on any of my searches.

HI Toblerone...I had exactly the same symptoms. I took it to my trusty garage mechanic, the car was due it's m.o.t. He did it for me and charged me £35 to supply and fit a new top diff bush. it's a common fault apparently. Hope yours is the same. Good luck...Cable guy.

Thank you Cable Guy. I'll have a word with my own trusty garage mechanic the next time I'm passing. Thanks again. Chris.
