Have looked at a number of Freelander 2's in the last few days (2013/2014 models) and nearly all have severe rust around where the aircon pipes pass through the bulkhead (by the steering column). Can't tell the extent of it as it is hidden by the felt soundproofing on the bulkhead. There appears to be a foam type figure of 8 gasket around the aircon pipes at this point, which now doubt retain moisture. According to JLR who have a 6 year body warranty against rust, that this is only for the external panels and excludes the bulkhead, as the bulkhead is not a body panel!!! Someone has suggested that this area is a bolt on panel, but I am sceptical as the bulkhead is structural and it appears to be welded to the wheel arch - but I suppose it could be a separate panel attached to the bulkhead - does anyone know?
Has anyone with a Freelander 2 got the same problem, or had it and has had it fixed? Views appreciated
