So while driving on Somerset’s wonderfully maintained roads driving too and from work, the tarmac is in a rough state - no major potholes but worn tarmac.

After approximately 15 minutes of driving I get a high pitched squeak, it isn’t a regular or consistent noise but appears as I hit a patch of rougher tarmac then disappears as I move to smoother roads. Which suggests it’s a suspension component.

I replaced the shocks approximately 6 months ago, could the bolts slackened off and causing some movement? I found a post about an L332 that had a brake pipe squeaking so got under the car and didn’t notice anything untoward there.

Any ideas on where this budgie could be hiding?

Trailing arm bushes, Panhard rod ends and the shocks themselves can sometimes squeak, exhaust mounts are another possibility as are the heat shields..

Just a few things then. Trailing arm bushes are already on the to-do list. I’ll throw in exhaust mounts as well then! Thank you!

The both upper shelf units, they clip into the window frame that's bonded in and the clips don't back in properly and can vibrate. What Tyres pressure are you running also?
I’ll double check them then. The parcel shelf is regularly removed and seats folded as I carry an MTB in the back so may have knocked it.

38r, 30f. I am running slightly larger than stock tyres, think that could be a factor?

I run mine at 2.4bar all round(not sure in psi) they are bit hard and I run stiffer shocks which rattle my interior a bit. I think it is supposed to be 1.9 bar front and 2.6 bar rear... Check the manual and your parcel shelf supports. It hopefully is as simple as that 👍

Just checked the parcel shelf clips on the passenger side (where I suspect the noise is coming from) and the little bit of foam tape on each tab had disintegrated and wasn’t doing much so I’ve squeezed some mastic tape in there to see if it helps. Fingers crossed! Thank you for all the help!

34 psi rear and 28 psi front on mine I've found suites me best

Thought it had solved it on the way in as no squeak. The way home? Yup, still there, certainly hasn’t made it worse though.

Gave it a closer listen on the way back, and the clarity of the squeak may well suggest it’s coming from the cabin. I’m going to get some GT85 in the rear seat linkages and see if that does anything.

Any other suggestions?

Check the seat slides and any loose plastic covers
