Broken steering column

Has anybody:
a) replaced steering column on L322
b) stripped broken column
c) managed to repair said column?

Was talking to an engineer buddy, who was confident a new piece could be fabricated
But he would like to mess around with a damaged one!
Anyone got a knackered one there not too attached to?

I Believe Bigrichw has done similar not to long ago - search for his posts on the matter....
