As above, broken ARB locking diffs wanted.

Not bothered whether 10 or 24 spline, but must be cheap, very cheap, as they're broken!

Only ones I've ever seen broken are very broken, normally an ashcroft shaft snapping and the the kinetic energy, and there gona cost more to fix than a new one, I get phone calls all the time offering stuff do ill let you know

Still after nackered diff lockers .. any trype will do, so long as they're very cheap or free .. ;)

We're looking to find out which bits break and have broken samples of bits and pieces so we can properly measure and then machine replacement parts using better quality steel, better made than stock, but hopefully cheaper ... or as in this case, machine a standard easily available part into the 'unobtainium' bits. We have a mate who's a wizard on a lathe who now also has a CNC miller amongst other kit, and can use them! He currently does naughty things to air rifles and things ..

As an idea of what we're looking to do, thinking outside the 'just buy a new unit' mentality .. we made this for an old 10-spline RD56 ARB diff from an old diff case ..

Broken bit on the left, machined bit from normal diff on the right ..

Made from this ... a standard diff cage ...

So now we're building it up into a diff, just waiting on new ARB O-rings and diff bearings ...

Anyone who donates parts will get first refusal for replacements at very, very competitive prices .. like cover the cost of materials, consumables and postage .. ;)

Cheers .. ;)

Nige sells end plates from
Megasquirt however if you have a lathe a lump of decent steel it's a basic thing to make.

I know .. at mega cost last time I looked and always (on the website at least) marked 'Out Of Stock'. Many people don't have a lump of steel and a lathe though, we're trying to re-use broken bits and where necessary make new bits, not necessarily just the end plates, that's just an 'easy' starter.

I've modified p38 4 pin centres on the lathe done a few now (the 18mm pin versions) to fit a long nose diff but wouldn't bother myself with an ARB too many inbuilt issuess unless your addressing the issues as you go ie making them way stronger the effort involved like the machine time to make the rover unit even half reliable for real world abuse. Even at £40 per hr, half that of a decent machine shop, the machine time soon adds up so your working your ass off for nothing.

Good luck Paul if your getting the machining time free make good use of it!!! I luckily have 24hr access to my old mans half decent lathe and mill but got sick of spending evenings in front it the mill. I still do the odd diff peg for some of the competitive guys around here and some HD diff builds but couldn't warranty or give my name to Any ARB rover based stuff just doesn't seem to cut it. ARB in Salisbury Dana now that's an avenue I want to explore at some point a 35 spline ARB with 35 spline shafts and spindles hubs.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but it's all 'mates rates' ... ;) Plus, I have no money so it's more about having some time and something to do with it that only costs time, and a bit of engineering knowledge, not money, IYSWIM.

Any bits I sell on later add up to better/more tooling etc. ;)
