It is coming up to the time the front discs and pads were replaced, looking at the lip on the discs that are one at the moment.

As I bought it last Sept I am, gradually, replacing parts on it, the EAS pump being the last bit replaced.

Looking at Island4x4, it appears I have the choice of Britpart, Allmakes4x4 or Delphi for the discs with the Britpart coming in as vented or vented, grooved and drilled.

Any advice on which would be the better choice?

I am toying with the idea of EBC pads rather then Mintex, etc mainly because they were the ones I used on the motorbike and they stopped the big bike very well. Is this a reasonable decision?

think the delphi are oem discs for the p38. ebc brakes are quite good as well ive just put them on mine and they stop it quite well.

Standard OEM discs and pads are all you need. Slotted cross drilled ones are for posing on McDonalds carpark with.

Slotted/grooved/drilled discs only act as a cheese grater. There is no need for it on a road vehicle, especially a RR as you shouldn't be driving it hard enough for require the cooling properties they provide. All you'll do is generate heaps of brake dust and need new pads a lot more often.

Good compound pads do a good job of stopping you, but the best stuff requires heat in your brakes to work correctly. For a road car your brakes are generally quite cold. You can get compounds aimed at low temperature usage, but just like tyres these work by sacrificing themselves, so expect to replace pads more often.

I stick to OEM stuff for my automacar.

Delphi discs and ebc pads all round. Braking has improved 100% since fitting but that's probably down to a good bleeding as much as anything. The added bonus is ebc pads create far less brake dust.

EBC discs and pads all round. Even got a complimentary comment from my MOT examiner, who did his apprenticeship on P38s.

mintex on mine all round.
no problems and really nice feel.

can't see any advantage to use anything else.

Stuck Brembo all round on mine. Discs and pads. No problem with them at all. I know they're a bit more money, but I could afford it. Plus got 20% off for buying the complete kit. New sliding pins and bolts all round too.

Good point and, for the few quid more, well worth it.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, going to fit the Delphi discs and EBC pads and also replace the sliding pins and bolts (thanks SAS1810).

For some reason the EBC pads have instilled confidence in their use from fitting them to the bike, stopping around 330kg of bike (plus rider, pillion and camping gear on top) very well.
