Hello all,

I've got an SIII with a dual brake system....but I can't find my brake warning light. I've seen some wires running from the shuttle valve to behind the dash but no light.

There is what looks like a momentary push switch added to the centre of the dash on the pillar between the front vents. This sometimes lights up if you push it but not now.

I was hoping something would light up when I deliberately let all the brake fluid out but nothing...

Any pointers where to look before I start writhing all the wires out...

the central pillar on mine has the two knobs to pull out for hazard and fog light

I think the brake warning light is the rectangular light above them , not on normally just when one side of brakes loses fluid and shuttle valve goes all on e way

With something as wonderfully simple as a Series why are you bothered about silly warning lights. I'm not trying to be funny here but a Series is pure KISS engineering. Just drive it. :D

Thanks Steve, that's cleared that up...looks like either the bulb's gone or the wiring is dodgy, my central pillar has the brake thing and the fogs. The hazards are just under the steering wheel...odd

Well Rob, brakes are quite important. But the Landrover dual brake system is a bit poor - especially the warning light that comes on AFTER the brakes have degraded! The reasons I want it working are
1) MOT
2) I want to bleed the brakes and make sure I've got the shuttle back in place
3) Why not!
4) I live in the pennines and it is all hills. I've had brakes fail on me before and even if you don't hit anything it still costs you a new pair of underpants...
