I'm not sure what to expect from my brakes really. She stops fine but needs a good firm shove of the pedal.
I have noticed that when I initially press the brake pedal it feels very firm like there isn't much servo assistance (maybe normal?). If I quickly come off the brake and back on again, the pedal feels more responsive (ie more servo assistance).
The pedal always remains firm and does not creep to the floor so i'm confident there is no leak / air in the system.
I know the servo system is a fairly crude arrangement and i'm used to driving my company car 20k miles a year which has mega strong brakes so jumping into Gertrude at the weekend is always a bit of a culture shock!

Does all sound fairly normal? As I say, she stops fine its just the pedal response really.

Series brakes are never going to compare to anything modern but they should be well up to the job.....the only real difference should be the amount of effort applied to the brake pedal.......Try not to bend your steering wheel :)

LOL! She does stop fine, just pedal pressure. When I first got her I thought I was going to have to open the door and drag my right foot on the floor to slow the old girl down :)

Petrol or diesel? I posted on here recently about a mod i did to my diesel to eliminate the butterfly flap in the manifold. I fitted an electric vacuum pump and now have good consistent servo effect and clean running engine.

Not sure why you want to keep butterfly flap, mines been erratic on servo, running performance and smoke. Electric vacuum pump is an easy fit 1 1/2 hour job and is about £70 all in.
