I have LWB brakes on my swb but I have a .75" bore master cylinder and the parts list either 1.00" or 1.125" What Would the difference be im foot pedal pressure be if I stick to the one I have got???:confused:

Also has someone got a Brake fluid reservoir for a single line brake and clutch? Part number 90577636. (mine sprung a leak :( )
 
i'v got a 2a with lwb size wheel cylinders and drums, its stops like a supertanker suffering from full power loss! think the cylinders are too big for the wee master cylinder thingy. have always ment to put a servo on it but its far too far down the list of jobs :rolleyes:
 
absolute bollocks, once the system is full of fluid the amount of extra fliud to open the cylinders is minimal. are you sure there isnt any air in the system?. even though you have the larger lwb drums on its still on old fashioned brake drums therefore it wont stop on a sixpence
 
Have you got LWB cylinders on the back?
The SWB master cylinder can only just move enough fluid. If everything else is perfect it will work, if not....
Problems usually show up as brakes need a pump to get a solid pedal, No amount of bleeding will solve it (the problem isn't air in the system) nor will a servo, that mearly reduces the amount of pressure needed, but doesn't alter the amount of fluid moved.
If you follow my advice the secxond question is probably no longer relevant, but the combined reservoir is difficult to find (unavailable?) You can get a conversion kit consisting of twin reservoirs, pipes brackets etc,

yer probably right, i'v not bled them myself but they were done a whilee when the thing was mostly rebuilt. it'll get sorted eventually!
 
Using a SMALLER diameter master cylinder has two effects:

1. it means the pedal has to travel further to send enough fluid down the pipes to work the brakes = softer pedal usually.

2. if you do get the brakes working, you will need LESS push on the pedal than when using bigger diameter master cylinder.

I think I'll try it with the small cylinder first. Surely the braking can't be any worse????? Them SWB front brakes scare the **** out of me, even at 30mph.

By the way anyone know the difference between V6/V8 and the normal LWB front brakes?
 
V6/V8 front brake shoes are 3inches wide
standard are 2 1/4 inch.
Also the drums are different to take the wider shoes.
These drums are hard to find. If anyone has a couple they dont want let me know :)
