Hi. It looks like the brake master cylinder has failed on my 2006 110 (ABS model). I'm trying to source a replacement and cannot believe the prices. The main dealership has quoted around £300 for the parts alone, my local garage £240. I've phoned around a few suppliers, but the cheapest I can find is £193 plus the VAT. Looking at these things, I'm struggling to understand why they are so expensive - and more to the point why can't the thing just be stripped down and its inner parts replaced? It seems daft that the best environmental (and cheapest) option no longer seems possible. Any thoughts much appreciated. James

I have only ever bought one thank God for an opel astra with no ABS in the late 90's.
£ 260 I could not belive it I mean the old type astra 3 models back.

Thanks G, have purchased from Paddocks and saved a few quid. Still horrendously expensive though!! Shame about our throwaway society - seems like nobody even entertains the thought of overhauling rather than replacing !!
