Hi All,

I was hoping someone might be able to offer some advice.....


I have a mixture of metric and UNF fittings on my 88, due to sailbury diff on rear, 73" chasis and late mill front axle...

I was wondering if I use single or double flares on the fittings, anyone got any idea's?


Clutch had a mixture of both!


I have no confidence to just replicate what was on there.............. As I'm not sure it is original (well the bits i have taken off anyway!)

Double flare are the best are stronger, single are easier to make,and are weaker. When you make the flares you are stretching the metal making it thinner thus weaker. Hopes this helps.

I make quite a few brake pipes every week and I generally go for the type of flare thats appropriate to the fittings being used. Try putting the wrong type of flare in the fitting and you will get brake fluid on your shoes.

He he he - so does it matter male or female for single or double?
