Got a few pictures the box I recently made
There’s a few showing how it looks when fitted, the one I (crudely) did on paint is the side view of the box, because the capping on the defender's come in just under the sliding windows, or side panels, so that angle is to compensate for that. I got the idea from the subwoofer enclosure that I bought, and it fit absolute perfect, so I thought it would be easy enough to make a slightly taller box, using the same principle as the subwoofer box. The box I made is 18" wide and my disco seat fits perfectly next to it. When I made mine, I made the base to go in between the two side panels, rather than screwed to the underneath otherwise the box would have been 18mm (thickness of the ply) taller and would have consequently pushed the box further out. Mine does stick out slightly as shown in the picture, but you could easily make it slightly smaller. As far as I can remember I bought a 6"x3" sheet of 18mm exterior plywood from B&Q which was about £25, but exterior could be a bit overkill for this particular use, I covered it with acoustic matting and the top I made from chequer plate which I had lying around. I'm still waiting for a couple of latches to be delivered to close the box.
PS, I don't know the angle of the side panel, I was using my sub box as a bit of a guide. I'm sure that every defender has different dimensions anyway
