I've just bought a 2010 Freelander 2 to use as a work horse and while driving it home I nearly came a cropper more then once. Driving over uneven roads and even the mildest of bumps seem to make the back end of the car bounce like a fair ground ride. The previous owner owner horses and told me that they did a lot of towing and hadn't noticed anything too worrying.

Questions is - how easy is ti going to be to stiffen the rear suspension or would it be to expensive (given the age of the car)

(longer) Test drive your next purchase!

Presumably you'll need new shocks. Maybe springs/bushes.

You need to be careful replacing these yourself as the springs are very dangerous projectiles when unbolted if not constrained properly.

If you are not confident on the spanners, you will be looking at getting them replaced at a garage.

Get them to have a look first, make sure there isn't something more serious going on under there. I'm not familiar with subframes, how the towbar mounts and the like with F2, you want to make sure that what the suspension bolts to is all sound.
