Morning, seem to recall reading about this in an old thread but I can't find it now.
Just reassembling the refurbed near side swivel housing on my 90 300 TDi and replacing both top and bottom swivel pins/bolts (cos I can).
The top pin bolts (M10s) are Loctite 270'd and torqued 78Nm in the manual, no issue there.
The bottom bolts are also Loctite 270'd and torqued 78Nm in the manual, but are only M8s I think. I recall reading a thread saying this is wrong and the bolts will shear if you try to torque the bottom pin bolts to 78Nm. Last thing I want is to shear a bolt and have to faff around reverse drilling out my nice new bolt.
The manual states that generically M8s should be tightened to 25Nm (M10's to 45Nm), and I was going to go with 40Nm and Loctite 270 of course.
Any tips on the right swivel pin bolt torque settings?
Thanks
