Greeting folks from the French side.

I have just joined the forum as a new member, in the first instance to gain knowledge. In the second, in time to contribute.

So I hope that the first will not annoy or upset too many people, and that you will help me in my prospective purchase of my next vehicle.

I would like to purchase a Discovery. I have had in the past a '54 80", a '64 early ser II 88", and a '77 Airportable 88". All great fun. I drove for work purposes a LWB T reg TD5, seriously off roading all of them for fun or work.

I now live in France........hence the title of the thread!

I live in the deep country of SW France, and this winter has proven to me that 2WD in the form of my old VW transporter is not suitable at all........It was purchased a number of years ago for the practical nature of having great amounts of space to move 'stuff'.

I also run a small tree surgery enterprise over here and need to be able to carry smallish crates of climbing gear, saws, rope, tools etc etc.

I am going back to UK this week, to work there for a while ( I also commute back and for to work) and will start to look when I am over there.

I am starting at a fairly reasonable point with 300Ti Discos about '96 - '98 with about 125K on the clock, autos or manual(advice please) so would like opinions on MPG, reliability, problems etc etc etc

I hope this is not all too much for a newbie.......but if you don't ask, you don't get, and we all have to start somewhere!!!

Many thanks in advance of your kindnesses
