Bolting on a winch bumper.

Bought myself a winch and bumper yesterday.
My mate and I fitted it last night, and it's all good, fits nicely and works well.

But, (and heres the question) we used the 4 original bolts that attached the the standard bumper.
Now I have a feeling these will not be strong enough to cope with any kind of recovery work.
I'm not looking to do any really hard-core winching like you see on Youtube, But I need to be able to self-recover when I'm out in the woods on my own (I'm a part-time gamekeeper) should the need arise, without breaking anything.

I have a good components seller in town, but would like to know what size/spec to ask for.

Cheers guys and gals.

afaik (and i'm well sketchy), 8.8 high tensiles shear at around 3t.. so the chassis will fail before the bolts. :)

Depends how high the winch is mounted and its power, but I like to have a bar along the bottom of the bumper going to the holes on the side of the 'dumb iron area' where its double skinned to stop the bumper rocking which can cause the load to be uneven and start to pull through the chassis at the top(high mounted 8274s like to do this

Cheers for the replys fellas:)

The winch bumper has "sleeves" on each side that I have slid over the chassis rails and then the bolts go through the sleeves and the chassis. This is probably a standard fit, but as I'm very new to winches, I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to pull the front of the Disco off the first time I use it.

I've just redone my winch bumper, and today picked up 4 new m10 120mm bolts to bolt down through th chassis and 2 m10 130, they are all 8.8,

I did say can I get stronger he said yes I will need to order them, I said will these hold my winch on, told him the spec of the winch and he said yes no problem with ease, so if I do pull it off I will take it back
