Bodywork question

Hi all, can I ask your thoughts on these 2 photo’s (whether this is normal or something to quite concerned about) on this photo please? It’s a 2007 for reference and the rivets. The other side appears not to have it but with regards to the carpet, is that normal or indicate work done? Many thanks.

Not 100% sure what you mean @Swimboy14
The rivets are starting to react with the aluminium skin and they 'weep' oxide. If the dissimilar metals touch and there is water (or worse salty water) offering a electrolytic circuit between them them this galvanic corrosion is accelerated.
The secret is to isolate the two metals (paint) and seal them to keep the electrolyte out.

Whats wrong with the carpet ?

Those rivets are bare when CSW's came from land rover, even series one 107's were that way. Why I don't know, just a feature maybe. Most get painted in later life for reasons as above.

Ah right, thank you. What could I do (hopefully relatively easily) to help stop this? The carpet - is it standard being cut how it has been under seat or has it been cut to allow work to be carried out on that side of the body work? It looks like the carpet should be “as one.”

To help slow it down a toothbrush and some brasso will clear off the oxide without damaging the paint work.
Some IPA (brake cleaner) to remove the brasso residue followed by a small brush and some special metals/acid primer and a touch up stick to finish.
If you can get behind the panel as well, that will help.

Sorry, dunno ... carpet is it ? that's posh then

I have and have had 90's with sound deadening mat stuck to the cab/seatbox and rubber matting on top.
Occasionally (more so at this time of year) I open the doors and wash the mud out with a hose pipe.
