Over 40 celsius here and just paid for it with a blown expansion tank... Anyone else suffering out there?

Managed to limp back home after letting it cool down and top up with water (still leaking out) and will change tank and flush system tomorrow. Anything I should be aware of apart from a knackered water pump or blow head gasket?

Tank pressure cap should let go before the tank, so fit a new cap with the new tank. check the viscous fan is locking up when the engine is hot.
The tanks do fail over time.
Re-fill with antifreeze, water does not cool as well.
Low 30's here today.

Split tanks dead common on the 300 when p gasket leaks a little, so little the owner doesnt notice until coolant so low motor runs hot fooks head gasket and cylinder pressure blows the header tank

Had a similar thing again yesterday - Disco overheated, fluid everywhere and also the power packed in. All a bit weird but I managed to get another battery, fill it with water and limp the last 3kms home.

Changed the battery and all is good with starting but when I fill up the water and start the engine the fluid gushes out of the expansion tank if I leave the top of it off. It's doing this immediately from a cold start?

Any thoughts?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I reckon the head gasket is blown, this is what my last Disco was doing when I bought it (cheap) off it's previous owner, running the engine now any further will only do more damage.
Time to bite the bullet and remove the head, maybe you'll be lucky and will not need a new head, (mine did), but will def need a new head gasket.
