what's the deal with spam in the off roading bit anyway?

seems a bit wierd. some seem to get away with it (whaddon) or if someone else mentions the price and date then it's ok?

personally, i think it would be good to have anyone list their p&p sites and dates, but make it a compulsory % off for lzers to do so.

It's not very clear. It's good to know what's going on and for folk to meet up but a post like this that is just a blatant advert from someone who is not a regular poster and more than likely connected with organising the day and stands to make money (whether personally or for a club) comes well within the realm of spam unless I hear compelling reasons otherwise.

As for a general policy maybe a discussion in the secure unit

WTF, define spam? Looking at the definition I suppose I am advertising a place for 4x4 owners to come play for the day.
Is it unsolicited? No, I wouldn't say so but there is a lot of LZ users who make unsolicited comments on this site.
I have been a member on this site since feb 2011 and only post when I need or have to.
Do I help run the club?
Yes with my own time and money.
Do I earn from it?
No.
Last time I 'advertised' a pay and play day people didn't like the cost so I persuaded the organiser to drop the price to encourage more 4x4's.

Fozzie.

You dropped the price to £30? Wow.

I know these things cost money to run.....so does LZ.

Do I help moderate it and organise events?

Yes with my own time and money......and I don't earn from it either.

Why should a club be able to advertise an event they hope to make a bit of cash from without making some sort of contribution?

A concession for members would be nice.....at the very least it would be nice to ask if was ok to post.

FFS

Spam is a canned precooked#product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation, first introduced in 1937. The labeled ingredients in the classic variety of Spam are chopped#shoulder#, with ham#added, salt, water, modified potato starch as a binder, sugar, and sodium nitrite as a preservative.
