No, not another “I’ve fitted LEDS and my lights are doing funny things” thread.
I bought some “modern” sealed (ish) indicator units to replace the crappy original ones in the ‘87 110. Simple enough job to swap them over…not. Got them all working apart from the NSR. For the love of God it will not work! Took the lens unit off so it’s just the +/- wires showing. Put a multimeter to the wires and I get a flashing 12v, as expected, but connect the wires to a known good bulb and nothing! No matter what I do I cannot get a bulb to flash, even though there’s definitely 12v.
Indicator was working before, nothing else has changed. What the hell is going on!!?

Sounds like the connections on the holder are at fault somehow. Not making contact correctly

If you swap the osr over to nsr, does it work?

I’ve omitted the connectors, literally down to the wires. Flashing 12v with a multimeter (analog), nothing with wires contacting bulb (nothing via connector either). Multiple, good bulbs tested.

Spooky, 🤔.

Is the bulb trying to draw more power than the wires are sending, but they have enough power to work the multi meter.
If you had a length of wire run from the front indicator to the rear and see if that will flash the bulb then you know it’s a wire or earth issue

I'm going to suggest a high resistance earth causing the issue, (its always the earths with a land rover  ) enough of a circuit to register on the meter but not enough to actually power anything. Try a good either direct to something solid or a jumper cable to the battery and see if that then lights the bulb form the indicator positive wire, if still no joy unfortunately it is the likely to be the same issue in the more difficult to repair positive wire!

you neglected to say if the flasher unit fitted is an electronic unit designed for LED or the old unit is still fitted (and there lies the problem) try a PureTek® CF14 3 Pin Adjustable LED Flasher Relay
