bit of a silly question ??

im contemplating fitting me landy with a wading kit and thought id ask for some ideas before i start over engineering things

the 2 main things that have got me stumped are

1 the axle breathers on my axles they look like loose brass banjo bolts do these just unscrew and i screw a hose fitment in the hole or is it a cut the fookers off drill and tap the holes out jobbie :confused::confused:

and the gearbox has a 35mm disc on the top with the 2 little breather holes in do i just enlarge these holes tap and fit a pipe nozzle into that or do i have to start with removing the disc and making something else

2 is there any other breathers or things to seal that i may have missed like the transfer box or the flywheel housing ( should that be plugged ) :confused::confused::confused:
 
:nopics:.... is it a series? - silly Q - just seen its in the series section.... look at the breathers on a defender. they have little pipes that yu atach to. think they are all the same thead - or else yu can get 1/8 bsp?? pipe fittings.

now is it just a case of this thing screwing out and me making a new pipe nipple to replace it or is it one of those things thats gonna snap when i try causing a shed load of **** drilling tapping then strip the fookin axles coz i got swarf in there :D:D:D
 
nope - they usually come out ok - they use a tapered thread. But you will need different fittings. Loads of threads n pics about it - including a shopping list (for a defender) somewhere on here.

Not all gearboxes have the breather.
 
reet tis another addon to me resto thread then :D:D:D

might be a good bit of sommat while im saving up fer the rest of me engine rebuild bits
