big oil leak

got home from work last night and when i got out the car i could smell the unmistakeable odour of oil on hot exhaust.
so this afternoon off came the sump guard and there seems to be engine oil ****ing out of the joint where the gearbox joins the engine.
so any ideas? i was thinking maybe crank shaft oil seal.

Are you sure its engine oil?

There are numerous possibilities, wipe it clean and trace the leak.

I would have thought your IRD seals would have gone if the breather was blocked after all that water you went through.

Sump gasket or lack of, Ird/Gearbox O-ring, input shaft/gearbox seal, crank seal.

Make sure its not fouling the clutch

it's definatly engine oil.i replaced the ird oil with fully synthetic stuff about 3 months ago and that stuff smells conpletely different. as i said i wiped all the oil of from underneath so it was all clean and the oil started weeping out of the joint where the gearbox bolts to the engine.the ird breather is ok as this is quite high up in my engine bay and was above the tide mark of muddy water that remained in my engine bay.
