Cut out and rejoin this lot, going to do both sides.solder and heat shrink or is that old fashioned now?
Ive got the dreaded green stuff, not too bad but I've found my usual heat shrink isn't always damp proof if you get me? Glue lined sounds more 'dampproffery' to meMight be old fashioned, but it's tried, tested and proven

Got the plier things, think it was Alan who put me on to them a few months back. What's the most used size for those solder melt things on the kick panel white plug wires? Think I'll get some anyway and see which turns up first and use them.

You did,I was just a disciple spreading the word.I put Alan on to the pliers, i dont know what size fits the white plugs, i have a box which have been used for other wiring.
The crimps are not as good as solder and glue filled heatshrink, BT and other telecom companies use them cos they are quick but they do sometimes fail.
