Best starter TD5,300tdi,200tdi,2.5 etc

Hi guys, just asking opinions which is the best defender to start on really like I have said in a previous post I ain’t excellent on the spanner’s but can do oil changes, all servicing and other bits n bobs. This is gonna be my first defender so wanting something I can learn on but can use as my daily 40 mile home n back commute country lanes, n a roads the odd motorway (if road is shut), as ever all help is appreciated.

have owned 200 tdi, 2.5NA and more recently a 300tdi

all are fairly ok to work on, no computers and basic, timing belt easier on 300tdi

compared to the P38 range rovers i have owned where a computer diagnostic tools are required

re the defender all the drivetrain is fairly similar and basic.

pre TD5 the defender has minimal electrics..

Any as long as it has a galvanised chassis and good bulkhead.
