Probably been done a million times before lol. Suggestions on best performing and good value Battery will they post how long etc Thanks
I think my oldham says platinum on it ,anyway, when i bought me p38 it had a landrover stamped battery which died with in months of ownership and was stupid money , being new to p38 strange ways i changeed it and got locked out ,and after an hour or so of finger nail biting clock watching ,it took the code an all was well ,never ever have i disconnected the battery since,..I use a power pack on the battery leads keeps every thing stored as it were,,,,I had an MF31 but it didn't last half as long as the Platinum 642X and I don't think it performed as well either. The Platinum one wasn't that much more expensive from HTS Spares.
More likely they never got fully charged, I have 6 of them and never had a problemPersonal preference here...
Yuasa gets my vote I've got one on the P38, S type and XJR6 all take a hammering, and i've not had any issues, the XJR's battery is from 2013 and it is still in pucker shape..
Had a Hankook on my Discovery and P38 both lasted less than a year, but then again I could of had 2 bad'uns
still looks good Jack.Started off with a joking numax was old battered 750cca. I used this to find electrical problems as a small issue becomes clearly apparent
Diesel P38 needs an mf31-1000 for cranking, petrol not so much but why not chuck the biggest you can get in there keep the ecus happy, if your pockets are deep enough.
I didn’t know about batteries or electrical back then until I met Data here, so threw a type 633/644 off a scania V8 turbo diesel lorry in mine (1000cca 125Ah). Its big and heavier than a Hancook not easy to get in. That suffered substantial abuse and did not benefit from the correctly adapted voltage regulator for non lead acid (you need to be aware of this) although I payed over the odds it was a strong battery and worth the extra expense for the laughs we had. After nearly 4 years it suddenly died, not dead, but too problematic to entrust on a 38. It’s in the shed just in case

Have a Hancook mf31 now fitted Jan 2021. no issues and holds its charge well. Few times I’ve worried with standing in the cold without a run but it holds strong so far but does have the correct VR ...
and the fanciest p38 battery bracket in the world
