Belt change - 1.8 K series

Just about to change the cam belt and thought i may aswell change the other belts as weell seeing that they have to come off. How many belts are there? Anyone got the part numbers?

There are 3 belts, timing belt plus two auxillary (power steering, alternator)

If yours is air con then you'll need to tell the supplier for the right one.

Dont have part numbers at hand

cheers, just found that out. Only problem now is that its a 2000, and not sure if its a manual or auto cam tensioner, luckily the supplier has both in stock, so will look tonight and pick the correct one up tomorrow.

How many miles on the clock? Its up to you...........

I was going to last year when I repaired the hgf, as suggested by haynes manual. I asked the dealer for the part and bolt (Manual tensioner) they told me they had never sold one to a customer, stuff that then. I re-used the bolt and just placed some light duty thread lock on the threads.

Some k-series fans get the water pump done at the same time. But these are nanny state peeps who get 'their man' or the local garage to change it for them. They dont get their hands dirty and so to save the expense of all the labour they get the pump done at the same time.

Its overkill if you ask me

I just did mine on the L-Series, I replaced the Tensioner and Idler on mine, but i was at 97K, the tensioner was servicable but the idler was fooked, dry and grinding and starting to wobble very badly, I really don't know how the belt hadn't come off...if I had known it was that bad whilst driving i would have been worried (more so) every time i turned the key
