A have a couple of problems with the Becker Sat Nav System and Head Unit and was wondering if anybody had any ideas.

Firstly, the Sat Nav seems to have stopped finding any satellites. It first started earlier this week, I set a destination and it started giving directions but not from where I was, it then kept resetting. When I checked the number of satellites the system was showing none.
I turned the head unit off and on again and it worked fine.

Yesterday I needed the sat nav again and it just would not find any satellites at all and no amount of turning off and on cleared the problem.

In addition to the satellite problems I started getting display problems on the head unit. When I adjusted the volume, the graphical volume bars stayed on the display covering over the radio information (Im sure you will understand what Im saying if you have the Becker Unit).

I cant see why these two problems are related but since they are both connected with the becker unit, I cant see it being a coincidence.

Does anybody have any ideas

I use the same head unit and mine has lost the display twice in say 18 months. I simply press the release and re-clip in and returns to normal.

If you have the code and discs to setup you could try removing the audio fuses in the driver footwell. This would fully reset the unit.

Lost satellite issues are sometimes due to the two aerial plugs falling out. There is a green and a black wire leading to the aerial under the courtesy light.

At the head unit end - make sure the black lead is plugged in firmly - even unplug and refit (has two clips).

Also remove the courtesy light if problems persist and check connections or for corrosion (rare).

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Regards,

Steve
