want to buy a new battery for my 1980 series three want to know where to buy near derby. also new authentic seats.

Battery? Halfords. You'll pay a bit more but there's a better chance the battery hasn't been left on a shelf to discharge and bugger itself. I've had real problems with cheap batteries from motor factors. If it's a petrol anything round terminal that fits the tray will do, if it's diesel I think you need to get something a bit better. Keep the receipt safe, some of their batteries have three or five year guarantees.

As big as will fit in the tray, in my last one I fitted a halfords 110ah lesiure battery, that fitted and had pretty reasonable power

Leisure, or traction, batteries are designed to give out power in a long steady flow, then be recharged in a similar fashion. Starter batteries are designed to be able to supply large amounts of power in a very short period of time, like starting an engine, then be recharged fairly quickly.

Takes longer to start a boat than a car/truck;)

Leisure batteries are used in boats because there is usually an electrical draw still required when the engine, and therefore whatever you are using to recharge the battery, is turned off. As long as you've got enough amps to operate the starter then it will do both jobs whereas a starter battery wouldn't.

Leisure battery isn't usually used to start the boat, there will be a starter battery anorl. The leisure batts usually run the cabin lights etc., and sometimes power an inverter.

Yup, if you can run two batteries. In Land Rover terms a starter battery for the engine and a leisure battery for the winch.
