Hi oh wise ones
I need to change my battery but dont want to lose my settings or set my alarm squiffy, I’ve heard about memory savers but can’t seem to get one disco 2 2004 specific so I was wondering if you guys know of one ?
Also was wondering if I could attach my battery charger to the leads and disconnect the battery then put the new one in without losing data or causing a short ?
Cheers

Just use a pair of jump leads.
Positive on new batt to positive connector on old, same with negs, then undo and remove the two connectors keeping the jump leads connected. Bit fiddly but not impossible.
Your new batt will then be supplying the car.
Take the old batt out.
Put the new batt in.
Put the terminal carefully on each post holding the jump lead in contact with it till you have made good contact. Then remove the jump lead and tighten it up.

But I have to say I do not know what settings you are worried about unless it is your radio code. and as for the alarm, it really isn't a problem.
A lot of us have disconnected and reconnected our batts often, for all sorts of maintenance purposes, wirth no problems.

Welcome to the forum!
Maybe you'd like to go to the "introduce yourself" part of it?!
Cheers.

Worst thing is the bass gets boosted.

Sorting out the sound levels takes longer than resetting the code, and the clock

Hi, welcome to the asylum🙂. As said no need to worry about disconnecting the battery, apart from (as said, the radio if you haven't got the code) & the clock. SLS work (if fitted)often requires the need to disconnect battery to avoid recalibration along with welding etc & don't forget disconnect negative first, all the best.
