Hello I have a 2006 L322 tdv8 I`m not going to be using it for 3 months and wondered if I could put my battery charger which has a maintenance programme on it connected to the large battery cable wiring in the boot so I can keep the charger out of the weather as I dont have a garage only a driveway ?

Thanks for the help I asked as I`ve seen people installing second batteries to the wiring so thought it should be do-able would you say it best to connect the earth to a nut or something on the chassis with any paint removed or is there a earth cable in there ( I`ll have a look :oops: ) sorry for the silly ?
 
I'd connect the negative clip to a clean earth point, there should be one somewhere, you might have to remove a rear light shroud to find a wired earth point.

I have a convenience connector wired directly to the battery terminals and it also shows battery charge state (Red/yellow/green LED's) It is accessible through the radiator grille.
I either connect a longer DC extension cable and leave the charger in the garage, OR use the standard charge cable off the charger (Ctek) and pop the charger in the dry under the bonnet and have the mains cable to the charger instead.
Maintenance Mode is a boon. Leave the car as long as you like. :)

If you've got towbar electrics ,with a extra plug 7 or 13 pin plug a length of cable to reach the charger in garage ,or house you could use the permanent pos and neg in the plug to charge the car when needed ;) :D

Some chargers don't work very well over a long cable on the DC side. My CTEK don't anyway.

Thanks for all the ideas lads I have a Ring smart battery charger with Analyser it wasn`t cheap but I got it especially for the AGM battery I have on the RR as AGM batteries really dont want to be discharged too far down this is why I want to have it installed the battery is brand new and not had any trouble since the supplier sent me a replacement for the first one they supplied which kept losing charge overnight I thought I had a parasitic drain but it hasn`t I just want to err on the side of caution.
 
I have a magnetic connector that is also attached to the car with magnets that I can stick in the boot when not in use, it plugs into the boot accessory socket and is wired to a Ring charger in the house.

nice solution.
I have a hard wired direct to battery and Ctek... Leave on nearly always when not in use..
