I'm sure I'm not the first twit to lock himself out. My TD5 has an alternator problem and the battery wasn't charging. So, I took it off the road, whilst I determined the fault and the solution. Having found what I wanted to do, I tried the key to unlock the doors, to no avail.

Can anyone help me please?

If you can get underneath, you may be able to attach jumper leads to the starter motor live connector and any earth you like. No guarantees though.......

Mind you, you say the key won't unlock it. I take it you mean the fob?

If you've got a 12S supplementary towing electrics socket fitted, you can plug a battery charger into this socket to put some charge into the battery.

I made up an adaptor to connect my CTEK battery charger to my 12S socket -

Mine is wired -

Positive to pin 4

Earth to pin 3

That's very interesting. Is it a safe way to charge the battery?

I've had no problems charging the battery this way.

I've used it when my D2 has been parked-up for too long and the battery has gone flat and, when I can get my D2 on my drive, to keep the battery topped-up.

You have to use a smart battery charger (such as the CTEK), which is OK to charge the battery, with it still connected to the vehicle.
