Hi,

I bought a new battery, one of these that I highly recommend. However, the old one was wedged in by the PO, and now I am looking for some clamps that I can use to secure this one properly. As the terminals are in the centre many of the ones I find won't work - any advice recommendations?

p.s. There's no 'lip' on the bottom of the battery so can't use those types of fitting.

Thanks!

You need a sturdy pipe as it might bend at the ends.

Ended up buying this from Halford's. Not happy with the final result though. Its in and on, battery is locked down and doesn't seem to be going nowhere quick - took my son out for a drive on the Somerset Levels earlier and its pretty bumpy terrain out there. Checked again just now and its not budged, but....................the clamp goes across the top of the battery and is a little close to both terminals for my liking. I have ensured theres a good thick rubber insulator between the clamp and the +ve terminal, but in order to get the battery fixed properly the other end is a few mm from the -ve terminal. I am likely overthinking it, but I suspect drilling a few holes and clamping across the width is going to help me sleep - another job for the weekend!

Bit of rubber under the terminals/clamps and under the bar gives piece of mind

Thanks, well I couldn't have done any more to ensure its secure - I am thinking about getting another for the Disco though, in which case the one thats in the Landy could replace that.....all those memes about Landy's being expensive are SOOOO true

If I do get another, it would be an AGM so at least it could go on its side!

Is that one of those angle brackets? if so they are ment to go along one edge of the battery and then the rods go at a diagonal across the ends to locate near the bottom corner on opposite side to bar.
My Ninety's battery box is set up like this.

I can't visualise that??

No....you're absolutely right, got it now - I just fitted it incorrectly - I have never used those angled one before - thanks, you just saved me another £200 investing in another battery.... 🍻

A very expensive option but one that i went for when I rebuilt my battery box after it rusted away is the yrm battery mount. This bolts into the bottom of the battery box and then has vertical bolts that allow a bar to go across the top of the battery (similar by the sounds of it to how you fitted the angle originally). I went with this option as I did not get on with the j bolts and angle bar you have just fitted as it kept working loose. Not had an issue with the yrm setup. But I did the whole works including new boxes, end panels, and the battery clamp.
