Just in case anyone has missed this:

I have been asked to pass on the following information to you regarding the
current DEFRA proposals for tackling problems caused by mechanically
propelled vehicles on Rights of Way. Perhaps clubs could ask their local
MP's if they support this motion and on what grounds.

This is an Early Day Motion urging Parliament to ban motors from all
unsealed BOATs. I suggest that all LARA Members within the listed MPs'
constituencies might ask their MPs what evidence they have to support this
EDM.

NB There is currently research being carried out by the Countryside Agency
via consultants Faber Maunsell, to establish to what extent the BOAT network
is being 'destroyed' by over-use. Until this research is completed, all the
MPs can go on is their own personal observations, and the propaganda of the
Antis. Ask if any of them have taken advice from those who use BOATs, from
the Governing Bodies, or from the House of Commons Rights of Way Review
Committee. And if not, why not?

Obviously, the whole concept of a BOAT is destroyed altogether, if they
close them to mechanical vehicles.

No, they'll just rename them as Byways Open to Approved Traffic. Approved
meaning it doesn't upset the rucksack-and-hairy-legs brigade*.

*And that's only the women! <boom-boom>.

I shall just have to paint it up like a utility vehicle then won't I and
pretend I am working for ordnance survey :)

Or are they going to use gatso's or will they compell retro fitting of the
doomsday chip and plot your location by GPS ?

Maybe someone will have to invent the stealth rover.

I'm getting sick and tired of this F**king government's war on all
things 4-wheeled.

If they do ban it, I shall just joint the ranks of the lower order and
stick two fingers up at the law. Might as well remove my number
plates, throw my tax, MOT and insurance out the window and put the
money saved in the petrol tank.
