Need to get some new axle stands, 2ton or 3 ton ?????
Im for the 3 ton cos of the weight
Im for the 3 ton cos of the weight
I bought my axle/vehicle stands when I started work on my 'project in the day' XJ Daimler Sovereign. They're a seriously heavy and low vehicle, so bought a pair of 3.5t stands...I preferred to err on the side of caution. The same stands have held up my Disco n Jeep, mates Patrols, Land Cruisers and Pajero's without issue, so if you can get heavier ones then why not? There's like $5-10 difference between a 2-3.5t pair, so it seemed a no-brainer decision, especially when you're the sucker laying under a couple of tonne of vehicle.

Now you're in perfect safety......doesn't worth any heavy-er then those u bought, I have 2t ones and I have no fear..........considering that a 2t car has just 500kg/wheel....or /stand
Btw $10 here is 17 Pounds, so if you're not willing to spend that difference you're a chump mate. It's half of fark-all if you're going to be doing lots of work.
I sure would spend it but I use the stands just for small works at the hub, swivels or breaks.......for the bigger ones I use the gully which i have in the garage
Meh...you're still better off doing as I and other suggest. If it were a few hundred $'s I'd understand, but for the sake of $'s you can count on one hand, that makes you a tightarse. There will be a time when you regret not spending 20mins of wages to ensure your safety.
but you only need something that can take just over half a ton anyway, so a 2 tonne stand is more than enough, why the hell would you waste money on something that was even more of a heavy duty product than you need
I got the machine mart 3T ones and they have worked well, plenty of lift and quite cheap

little stands have little bases - big stands have BIG bases
am sure you can figure out why a BIG stand is going to be safer
..... but Machine Mart also do some 12 ton rated ones which are nearly 1000mm tall, for not much more money
