Disco 2 Axle Ball Joint replacement hiccup

Hi all,


Having a slight problem with my front axle swivel ball joint replacement.

This is even before i try to remove the ball joints!

I have removed all the ancillaries, brake disc, shaft etc. Now i need to disconnect the swivel ‘frame’.

I have removed the nuts on both the top and bottom ball joints. I tried to separate them but have found that there is a nut on the bottom. The help threads i have seen don’t mention this nut.

I seem to remember seeing something about a preload nut though?

I have tried to undo it with my breaker bar but it is that hard it has started to move the truck! My ½” breaker bar is starting to flex and i wonder if it will actually break.

Has anyone come across this before? I haven’t got access to rave so am a bit stuck.

Any thoughts?

Would be quicker if he knew how to use a hammer, get the right size and don't hold it halfway down the shaft.

In other words, "Don't force it ...... use a bigger 'ammer!"

Or a brummie screwdriver.

Keep the toffee hamer in the sweetie jar for the misses

And hold the end of the handle that's why they made it that long, it's all to do with balance.

Where are you at on this? Did you complete the task?
