Auto Lights problem

The auto lights on my Range Rover Vogue SE seem to be confused.

When set to "off" they are on, when set to "side lights" just the side lights are on, when set to "on" they are on and when set to "auto" they are on.

When the ignition is switched off they all do what you'd expect. The warning alarm sounds when they are set to "on" or "side lights" and they simply switch off if they are set to "off" or "auto".

Any ideas? Is it a wiring issue? Is it something I can resolve myself?

sounds like a sticky relay.

I'd start with TB's suggestion. If it's the system with the sensor behind the mirror then that runs to a relay. That's where I'd start.
