auto gearbox

wednesday had the auto fluid in my td4 auto changed came strait home yesterday did not go any where today friday did 20 miles and my gearbox is playing upsometimes if you put your foot down it just revs and sometimes it behaves it self been back to stratstones Hanley s-o-t and they said they would check it they said fluid leavel was ok now I dare not take it any where and I know nothing about auto boxes

Sounds like not enough fluid - or heaven forbid - the wrong fluid.

No names like, but I know a LR dealer in NE Scotland's oil capitol who let a young apprentice change the fluid.

I got halfway home then turned around and went back - I asked what brand/grade of fluid was put in and who did it.

The service manager said nothing except " Have a seat and a cup of coffee sir, and we'll do it again, if you're not happy."

Dealers don't admit to making mistakes!

If you're fully confident that the box was behaving correctly before they changed the fluid then be insistent and take the workshop foreman for a run - with you driving.

When does it rev up? When pulling away when first putting itin to drive, missing gears when changing up when moving, when hot or cold... How do you get the fault to clear?

Mine revved up when pulling away as you describe when the barrel connectors came loose. It defaults to 4th gear, usually with F4 flashing on the dask. Easy to check connectors. Also look for cut wires or damaged wire touching something metal. Located above the auto.

thanks I will check the wiring starting of no problem somtimes if I put my lead foot down it just revs and then i easy off the go peddle and it chages gear and takes up the drive I am taking it in to a auto specialist on Monday I hope and let them have a look I know they are good and have been doing gearboxes for about 40 years or so I hope to be able to put so light on what is happening
