Hi everyone,

I've been a land rover owner for 8 years but my labour of love with them ended last year when I had a stroke. i'm now disabled (only one arm ) and will probably never drive a manual again, so wonder if anyone knows:

Can a discovery 2 td5 be converted to an auto gearbox, also can a defender td5 110? I own both and it saddens me to think I may never drive them again.

Anyone know anyone who has driven either of these with one hand (on a spinner knob) on the wheel? This feels my only hope of future Land-rovering.

One last warning - be careful of those part-finished projects. One day you might find yourself staring at a half-working vehicle, wondering how you'll ever finish it, just as I am - the fender 110 is my pride and joy and mostly in bits.

Thank you in advance,

Damian (eurocracy)

yes both are possible and thers more people and firms doing stuff than ashcrofts, disco will be very easy as alot are anyhow and electronic wise has provision for both,my mate uses a spinner knob on wheel and drives one handed but he can still use the other enough to engage drive,110 could be done 2 ways with mechanical govenor ,or electronic control and nas spec consol can be used for selector lever or special cubby box with lever bracket in front

Thank you, just what I need to hear! I saw elsewhere that Twisted Performance can do auto conversions. Anyone any good experience of them? I know it's going to cost £££'s but the Disco is a car I paid £40K for in 2003, sat doing nothing.
