Are all dash crash pads equal?

I have a badly cracked dash pad on my Land Rover 90 ('89). I'm not sure I have the time to do a repair - in the process of emigrating to NZ - and trying to get all the landy bits done before i ship it.

Some dash pads on ebay have the back of the vents missing. It also appears (but might not be the case) that the fixing holes are slightly different. Here's mine:

Here's the other one's - probably a newer design:

Does anyone have any clue as to if they are compatible, on the face of it the holes seem to be in a different place?

Unfortunately they are different. The later models (certainly 300tdi, not sure about 200tdi) had wider vent apertures so the screw spacing is different. and the screw pacing on the bulkhead id what determines which one you need. I had this issue when i swapped to a 300tdi bulkhead!

Many thanks. That does tally up with the visuals. Oh well, I guess I better make some time to re-cover mine, can't seem to find an old one new/in good nick.

Wild idea and no idea if it's doable, could you get a replacement 3D printed?

I'm going to take a look at the bulkhead fixing. Maybe a couple of new plastic vents and some self tappers / rivnuts might work. Guess it might also have a further knock on effect to the heater ducting etc.
