Hello,

I've ordered an oil catch tank for my 200TDi to 'work' along with the rather naff / ineffective cyclone breather, so that I no longer have to have my crank case / rocker cover venting to atmosphere in order to prevent my intercooler from sludging up. Does anyone have one fitted? The only reason I ask is for piccies, just wanted to see what peepsies setups look like.

if I were you I'd put the output of the tank to where the original breather pipe went because the smell of oil vapour is horrible especially on a long run, the catch tank should still slow the sludging process right down.

That's exactly why I'm fitting one and that's how I intend to plumb it in. I don't see the point of vent to atmosphere catch tanks (or those who do vent them to atmosphere) because they defeat the whole purpose of fitting one. There needs to be a vacuum at the rocker cover.

Vent to atmosphere is fine - The oil mist condenses as it travels along the tube as it coosl down and just drips into the catch tank, only air escapes to atmosphere. As soon as there is a small repository of oil at the botom of the catch tank anything passing through it, just bubbles thru the oil. I have a catch tank vented to atmosphere with a site gauge on the side, on my Ford.
