Anyone know how to stick a Rover V8 in to a 2.4 lwb frontera?

my 2.4 frontera could do with a bit more get up and go i would like to
fit a rover v8 engine or a straight 6 from a carlton has anyone done or
know of anyone that has done this?

Why not just flog it and get a Rangie or similar - or at least something
less **** than a Frontie?

I'm not familiar with the Frontera transmission set up. The first thing to
find out is if it has a remote transfer box. Is there a short prop shaft
between the main box and the transfer box? If it's remote then the
conversion is theoretically possible if there's enough physical room for the
new engine and gearbox combo. (I seriously doubt that you'll get a
conversion plate for V8 to Frontera box). However, there is a chance that
other Vauxhall lumps might fit onto the Fronty bell housing which would make
a conversion much easier. Maybe the Senator 3.0 six pot will bolt straight
on. Is there room under the bonnet for an extra 2 cylinders?

Or sell the Frontera and get something with a bit more poke. Rangey, Disco,
Explorer, Cherokee, etc, etc... The @rse has fallen out of the 'big' motor
market at the moment so there are some serious bargains to be had if you can
stand the fuel bills...

very true I could sell the Frontera and get a cheap old Range Rover.
but it would'nt be has much fun as a fronty with a V8 under the hood.
Ive already done a similar project many years ago with a lada I fitted
a fiat tc 2000 into it i can still see the faces on the boy racers
face's as i tore by them in what looked like a stock lada lol

IIRC, the 2.4 is the same as the manta 2.0CIH engine, if so the 3 litre
should bolt straight onto the gearbox, it has been done in mantas with much
moving about of radiators and stuff.
You could always try and find yourself a lotus Carlton twin turbo, it should
go quite well!
