Fir my next trick I will be installing a series diesel rev counter.
Never was one I hear you thinking...................... well

As my speedo is from an S3, I was thinking of a S2 speedo for the rev counter butchered with a modern diesel rev counter secreted inside working the old arm/pin/hand whatever one calls it..

I have the S2 speedo but am short of a few bits namely (forgive me if this gets a little technical);

I have one of the little rubber boots missing off the end of the heater plug light shaft. Need one of them.
I also need to install the charge light in the new rev counter as it used to live in the temp/fuel clock so I also need the shaft that the light shines down (and another little boot for the end of that one).

Im pretty sure you cant get hold of such spares so the only other option is to get hold of yet another S3 speedo and take the bits I need from it. The only thing is I hate the idea of demolishing a good en.

What I really need is a similar ham fisted loon like misen who has completely broken their S3 speedo and wants shut of it.

How much are new ones roughly for S3, just took mine out the other day ive never seen it work, i can only get to 20 mph tops on the farm anyway until its road worthy!

The going rate is about 20 quid but as they aint making them any more it seems a bit immoral to destroy one. The S2 one I got hold of was completely goosed and cost me a fiver but the going rate for them is between 25 and 40.
They do need the cable seating correctly at each end. Sometimes they look perfect and dont work until given that final wiggle. Oh and lube the cable before fitting by drawing out the inner core and greasing before replacement. Otherwise they bounce.
