Any help on landrover freelander 2 message that comes up

Hi all, just wondered if anyone can help, I have a message that comes up when I start engine.
"Special programs off, "transmission fault traction reduced"
Any ideas would be much appreciated, I have noticed that all 4×4 functions are not working when I drive. It's a 2008 landrover freelander 2

A low of failing battery will cause those messages, so if the battery is old (more than 5 years) then that's the place to start.

Next move is to have a diagnostic read done, to ascertain the fault.
 
Yes tried a new battery, so will try to book for diagnostics. Thank you

I had new haldex fitted and wondered if that had anything to do with it?

So you have a drivetrain issue, but at first fail to mention what steps have already been made. What else have you tried?
Is the fault from after the haldex bring fitted?
diagnostics would be a good step from a garage that knows what they're doing.
 
Definitely get the codes read - you'll need a good F2 compatible bit of kit to read them, not just an ODBII engine dongle. Even on my F1, I just take the car to my local LR indoe to have codes read.

Did you get a reconditioned Haldex or one from a breakers?

If its from a breakers, was it given a full service?

What are your tyres like? Are they all same make/model and pumped to same pressure?
 
Thank you, we had a reconditioned haldex and rear diff fitted and apparently a clip was broken that went from haldex to diff I was told, so wondered of that may be the problem.
The message came up before we had the haldex changed too.

Special programs off related to the fuse in the curling tongue circuit blowing.
Also worth checking the perming solution reservoir located next to the red and white striped pole.
Hope that clears it all up.
 
Special programs oft message... If you leave the engine on tick over for one minute, then switch it oft, then restart, does the same message appear?

That will prove if it's flat battery starting related or not. Once the battery has a small charge the error message won't appear if that's the cause, when restarting.
